Baghdad Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi affirmed Iraq’s firm and permanent stance towards the Palestinian issue, in a manner that guarantees the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with Holy al-Quds as its capital.

During his meeting with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and the accompanying delegation, Al-Halbousi indicated that Iraq seeks to use parliamentary diplomatic capabilities to support the Palestinian cause and everything that contributes to putting an end to the occupying entity’s attacks against the Palestinian people, and to support the restoration of life to the sectors that have been affected by the attacks and bombing.

For his part, the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his thanks and appreciation for the official and popular Iraqi position regarding the events in al-Quds, and its support for the Palestinian people in Arab, Islamic and international forums, conveying the greetings of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to the Speaker of Parliament.
