Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi emphasized today, Sunday, the importance of intellectual and dialogue-based events in discussing the issues and challenges facing Iraq.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Speaker's Media Office stated in a statement that "Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi received today, Sunday, the Director of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, Abbas Radhi, who presented him with an official invitation to attend the Eighth Baghdad Dialogue Conference, scheduled to be held in Baghdad on August 21 and 22, 2026."

During their meeting, Abbas Radhi provided an overview of the preparations being undertaken by the conference's preparatory committee. He highlighted the efforts being made to ensure the success of the event, which will feature participation from a select group of political and academic figures, as well as think tanks in Iraq.

The statement further mentioned that the Speaker of Parliament praised "the efforts made by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue in establishing a culture of dialogue and enhancing communication between different parties." Al-Halbousi underscored "the importance of intellectual and dialogue activities in discussing the issues and challenges facing Iraq and the region."
