Al-Halbousi Pledges Parliament’s Backing for Government Development Initiatives

Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament, Haybat al-Halbousi, has reiterated Parliament's commitment to supporting the government in its endeavors to implement development projects and bolster economic reform and sustainable development efforts. This assurance was conveyed during a meeting with Abdullah al-Dardari, the UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Administrator, and his delegation.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting, held on Monday, was aimed at discussing areas of cooperation and exploring ways to support Iraq's national development priorities. The statement from the Speaker's Media Office highlighted the emphasis placed on the existing partnership between Iraq and the UNDP, underscoring the strategic importance of this collaboration in driving the country's development agenda.

During the discussions, al-Halbousi affirmed the Parliament's unwavering support for the government, emphasizing the role of legislative backing in the successful implementation of development projects and the advancement of economic reforms. He stressed the need for sustained efforts towards achieving sustainable development goals.

In response, Abdullah al-Dardari expressed the UNDP's readiness to provide comprehensive support to Iraq's development initiatives across all sectors. He reiterated the organization's commitment to assisting Iraq in overcoming developmental challenges and achieving its national objectives.
