Baghdad: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, emphasized that Baghdad will continue to be recognized as the intellectual capital of the world and a beacon of wisdom. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hassan made these remarks during a celebration marking Baghdad’s designation as the Arab Tourism Capital, an event organized by the United Nations mission. He stated, “I am honored to celebrate today the selection of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital, as this represents a cultural testimony for Iraq, reflecting the great progress the country has achieved in the past years of security and stability.”

He noted that Iraq, known as the land of Mesopotamia, has been a cradle of civilization where history was written and foundational laws were established. “Baghdad was and will remain the intellectual capital of the world and the home of wisdom where science met,” he asserted.
