Al-Hassan: Iraq Will Become A Banking Powerhouse Both Domestically And Internationally


Baghdad: The Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mohammed Al-Hassan, confirmed that Iraq will transform into a banking powerhouse internally and externally. Al-Hassan’s remarks came as he addressed a conference on money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism, highlighting the challenges Iraq faces in regaining its regional and international standing.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hassan stated that the words spoken during the conference underscored the importance of a robust financial sector for Iraq’s economic system. He emphasized Iraq’s commitment to taking steps to restore confidence in its financial and banking sector, both domestically and internationally.



Al-Hassan further stressed that the United Nations supports Iraq’s approach, which aims to develop into an interactive banking powerhouse. He highlighted the global nature of the fight against terrorism and acknowledged the significant sacrifices Iraq has made in terms of lives and resources.



He concluded by noting that these sacrifices must be complemented by continued efforts to elevate Iraq’s role in the financial and banking sectors, reinforcing Iraq’s commitment to overcoming regional and international challenges.
