Al-Kadhimi, Barzani Stress the Importance of Adopting the National Dialogue To Get Out of the Political Blockage

Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met with the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, in Erbil.

Al-Kadhimi and Barzani discussed, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, the overall political situation in the country, and stressed the importance of adopting a national dialogue between all political forces to get out of the political impasse that is affecting the general situation, impeding the provision of services to citizens, and threatening to destabilize.

They also stressed the role of political and social actors in facilitating understanding, reducing the level of tension, avoiding incitement, and the importance of relying on responsible national discourse for a federal, democratic Iraq in which the word of the constitution and the law is above all.

The two parties discussed various security challenges, and the importance of continuing joint coordination between Baghdad and Erbil to address a number of files, foremost of which is the fight against terrorism, and the repeated attacks on Iraqi lands, and that the land of Iraq is nowhere to be a starting point, or a haven for threatening neighboring countries.
