Baghdad: Monday’s newspapers highlighted the announcement by Al-Kadhimiya Holy Shrine regarding the participation of over 14 million visitors in the Rajab visit to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Musa bin Jaafar Al-Kadhim. They also covered the discussions held by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during his visit to Baghdad.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the semi-official Al-Sabah newspaper reported that Al-Kadhimiya Holy Shrine confirmed the participation of more than 14 million visitors in the event. The three presidencies expressed their condolences to the Iraqi people and the Islamic nation on this occasion. The Supreme Committee for Million-Person Visits declared the security and service plans for the visit a success, with no breaches and smooth operations.
The administration of Al-Kadhimiya Holy Shrine expressed gratitude to all contributors, including Husseini processions and security forces, for securing the visit. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani visited Kadhimiya to review the implementation of service and security plans for the event.
In a separate development, Al-Zaman newspaper reported on discussions between Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Baghdad. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring strategic partnerships to benefit both nations.
The newspaper quoted a statement indicating that Hussein welcomed Fidan at the ministry building, emphasizing the visit’s role in enhancing diplomatic ties. Discussions included bilateral relations, economic and political collaboration, and regional security issues, including the situation in Syria and the presence of ISIS on the border.
Fidan highlighted the strategic nature of Iraq-Turkey relations, noting that Iraq’s security and stability positively impact Turkey. He also mentioned efforts to implement the development road project and stressed the importance of security coordination between the two countries, particularly concerning combating ISIS and the PKK.
