Baghdad: The Karkh Criminal Court sentenced five women to six years in prison for human trafficking. The Judicial Council explained in a statement: “The convicted mother sold her newborn child in collusion with four other women for three million dinars.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the sentence was issued against them based on Article 6/First and Fifth of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law No. 28 of 2012, in conjunction with Articles 47, 48, and 49 regarding complicity, and in accordance with Article 132/2 of the Penal Code.
