Baghdad: The First Karkh Investigation Court has successfully apprehended a suspect accused of impersonating a judge on social media to defraud multiple citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council revealed that the arrest was made following a judicial decision issued by the competent judge of the First Karkh Investigation Court. The suspect’s capture was initiated after a female citizen lodged a complaint with the court, detailing how she was defrauded through a fake Facebook account. The suspect allegedly impersonated a judge, utilizing various phone numbers and electronic cards to extract money from the victim by convincing her with forged documents.

The Supreme Judicial Council has urged citizens to remain vigilant and not to fall prey to such fraudulent schemes. They emphasized that judges do not engage with social media, and any claims suggesting otherwise should be regarded as deceitful attempts that necessitate caution and prompt reporting.
