Baghdad: During a recent meeting with Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing the national interest and extending essential political support to the government.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the State of Law Coalition’s media office reported that the meeting, held in al-Maliki’s office, centered on the latest political and security developments in Iraq. Discussions included addressing the challenges facing the political process and exploring ways to enhance stability and protect national interests.
Both leaders underlined the need for ongoing political efforts to consolidate stability, unify national positions on prevailing issues, and enhance the functioning of state institutions. This, they agreed, is crucial to ensuring the provision of services and fulfilling the aspirations of citizens.
Furthermore, the leaders stressed the urgency of completing the cabinet to enable the full formation of the government. This step is viewed as essential for the effective functioning of state institutions, thereby boosting the government’s capacity to tackle political, security, and economic issues in line with the principles of consensus, partnership, and national responsibility.
Al-Maliki reiterated the significance of prioritizing the national interest and fostering a spirit of cooperation and coordination among the various political forces. This approach aims to preserve Iraq’s security and stability while strengthening the political process.
