Al-Maliki and US Embassy Charg© d’Affaires Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations


Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received the Charg© d’Affaires of the United States Embassy to Iraq, Joshua Harris, at his office today, marking Harris’s assumption of his duties in Baghdad.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on exploring avenues to enhance bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States and fostering cooperation that would benefit the peoples of both nations. The discussions also covered recent developments in regional and international contexts, with a shared commitment to promoting stability in the region.



Nouri al-Maliki reiterated Iraq’s willingness to build cooperative and partnership relations with countries worldwide, including the United States, grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.



Al-Maliki emphasized the significance of the upcoming legislative elections in Iraq, which are anticipated to align the political process with the demands of the Iraqi populace.



On his part, Joshua Harris expressed optimism about advancing cooperation between Baghdad and Washington, aiming to bolster security and stability in Iraq and the broader region.
