Al-Maliki Reaffirms Iraq’s Commitment to Partnership with the UK


Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, emphasized Iraq’s dedication to cultivating relationships rooted in partnership and cooperation during a meeting with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, held at his office.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion between al-Maliki and Ambassador Siddiq focused on the bilateral relations between Iraq and the UK, exploring avenues for development across various sectors. The conversation also included an exchange of perspectives on several regional and international issues that hold shared interest for both nations.



Al-Maliki reiterated Iraq’s commitment to fostering relationships that mutually benefit both countries. He highlighted the progress being made by political forces in Iraq towards fulfilling the remaining constitutional requirements necessary for forming the presidencies, expressing optimism that these matters would be resolved swiftly and within the constitutional deadlines.



Ambassador Siddiq, on his part, conveyed the United Kingdom’s appreciation for the current level of bilateral cooperation. He lauded the efforts of Iraqi political forces in bolstering stability and advancing dialogue and understanding at both domestic and regional levels.
