Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, emphasized the necessity of renewal and development to ensure a strong and prosperous Iraq.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Maliki made these remarks at the Youth and Elections Conference, which was held under the patronage of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmed al-Mubarqa’. He highlighted the pivotal role of youth in the electoral process and affirmed that renewal among the younger generation is a foundation that must be embraced by all.
Al-Maliki outlined the importance of elections as mechanisms for renewal and development, asserting that democracy and the political process lack meaning without them. He noted the resistance faced from various political forces and parties but insisted on the necessity of holding elections as scheduled.
He explained that elections serve as the gateway for the formation of the government and parliament, initiating the process of enacting laws to regulate political and social processes. Al-Maliki further emphasized that the constitution does not recognize concepts such as an emergency or caretaker government.
He concluded by warning of the grave dangers posed if elections are not conducted on their scheduled date, urging all to acknowledge the critical importance of maintaining the electoral timeline.
