Baghdad: Secretary-General of the Islamic Dawa Party Nouri Al-Maliki emphasized the significance of the upcoming elections for Iraq, stating they are pivotal for establishing a democratic state. He highlighted the necessity of maintaining election integrity and warned against the misuse of state resources during this process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Maliki, speaking at the party’s second General Professional Conference, described elections as a tool for political correction and safeguarding democracy. He stated that democracy loses its essence without elections, as they represent the people’s voice, cautioning against political chaos as an alternative.

Al-Maliki warned against the influence of political money on elections and urged collective action against any violations that could compromise election credibility. He expressed his desire for a governance system rooted in the constitution and law, rejecting any form of dictatorship or exclusion.

He stressed that the enforcement of the rule of law is essential for justice and stability. Al-Maliki’s coalition, named ‘State of Law,’ reflects his commitment to legal supremacy as a foundation for nation-building.

He also emphasized the need to channel national resources for the benefit of the Iraqi people, criticizing external engagements. Al-Maliki pointed out that professional unions and associations play a crucial role in societal development, supporting a knowledge-based nation.

Al-Maliki concluded by advocating for unity among all societal components as a guarantee for a prosperous Iraq. He emphasized the role of capable professional elites in driving progress and urged all factions to take responsibility for building a stable homeland under the constitution and law.
