Baghdad: First Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen al-Mandalawi, engaged in discussions with Alexander Leffle, the Deputy Charg© d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy, focusing on bilateral cooperation and the enhancement of partnerships between Iraq and Norway, particularly in political, development, and humanitarian areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting took place at al-Mandalawi’s residence, where both officials explored avenues to strengthen the relationship between the two nations. Al-Mandalawi highlighted Iraq’s commitment to deepening ties with Norway, recognizing the country as a valuable partner in stabilization and reconstruction efforts. He underscored the significance of the Iraqi Parliament’s legislative role in fostering an appealing environment for investment and widening cooperation with friendly nations to achieve mutual interests and maintain regional security and stability. Al-Mandalawi also stressed the importance of activating friendship committees and monitoring agreements and development support programs.

In response, Alexander Leffle conveyed Norway’s appreciation for Iraq’s initiatives in reinforcing regional security. He affirmed Norway’s willingness to continue its support for development programs in Iraq, including renewable energy, education, and institutional capacity building, which are crucial for Iraq’s sustainable economic and developmental growth.
