Al-Mandalawi Emphasizes Importance of Turkmen in Iraq’s Democratic Process


Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi affirmed that the Turkmen component is an integral part of the fabric of Iraqi society and a key partner in the sustainability and success of the democratic process in the country.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Al-Mandalawi’s media office detailed that he met with the head of the Turkmen Front, Muhammad Samaan Kanaan, and the head of the Diyala branch, Osama Ibrahim. The meeting, held in his office on Sunday, focused on developments within the national scene and the overall situation in Iraq, with particular attention to regions characterized by ethnic and religious diversity.



Al-Mandalawi emphasized the importance of the Turkmen community as a vital component of Iraqi society and a partner in the democratic process. He highlighted the Parliament’s commitment to coordinating with various societal forces to ensure justice for all citizens. This involves enacting laws that uphold constitutional rights, fostering societal peace, preserving national unity, and promoting values of justice and equality. The aim is to ensure stability in diverse regions, eliminating discrimination and marginalization.
