Al-Mandalawi Seeks Resolution for Detained Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi has affirmed his full solidarity with the families of Umrah pilgrims detained in Saudi Arabia.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi's media office announced that he met with a group of families of the detained pilgrims at his office on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by several members of Parliament, and the Deputy Speaker listened to the families' concerns and expressed his commitment to resolving the issue. Al-Mandalawi emphasized the importance of addressing the matter due to its legal and humanitarian implications.

Al-Mandalawi confirmed that the Iraqi Parliament is actively coordinating with the government to engage with the Saudi authorities to address the legal status of the detainees. He underscored that the legislative authority is closely monitoring the situation and is awaiting a resolution from the Saudi side. The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has submitted official communications to facilitate the release of the detainees, and Parliament is hopeful for a swift settlement of the issue.
