BAGHDAD: Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi has instructed the Legal Committee to expedite the refinement of contentious sections within the Personal Status and General Amnesty Laws, ahead of a critical voting session. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi chaired an extensive meeting with the Legal Committee on Saturday, which included its chairman and members, alongside several heads of parliamentary blocs and committees. The meeting was convened to deliberate on the agenda for the Council's session scheduled for Sunday. The media office statement revealed that detailed discussions were held regarding the debated sections of the proposed Personal Status Law, the second amendment to the General Amnesty Law, a draft law concerning the restitution of real estate to its rightful owners, and legislation on service and retirement benefits for the Mujahideen of the Popular Mobilization Forces. Al-Mandalawi has directed the Parliamentary Legal Committee to remain i n session to ensure the completion of these laws' maturation process. The aim is to present them to the Presidency of the Council for inclusion in the upcoming voting session.
