Al-Mandalawi Welcomes Implementation of Oil Agreement to Boost Constitutional Partnership

Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi has welcomed the initiation of the implementation of the recent oil agreement between the central and regional governments and foreign companies in the Kurdistan oil fields. The agreement facilitates the delivery of 190,000 barrels per day of crude oil from the region to the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO) through the Iraqi-Turkish pipeline. SOMO will market this oil via the port of Ceyhan in compliance with international regulations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi emphasized that this development is a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil. He described the agreement as a successful outcome of months of dialogue, marking a national achievement that aligns with the three-year budget law and the reorganization of oil exports from the region. The agreement is seen as a means to guarantee the rights of all Iraqis, ensuring fair and transparent distribution of the country’s wealth, maximizing state revenues, encouraging investment, and contributing to economic stimulation and service improvement.

Al-Mandalawi further highlighted that the House of Representatives is committed to supporting and monitoring the agreement, aiming to strengthen the constitutional partnership between central and regional institutions. This effort is intended to consolidate mutual trust and fortify the foundations of the federal Iraqi state.
