Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani stressed that political competition must be based on providing service to the Iraqi people. Al-Mashhadani said in a statement: "Today, the electoral campaigns for the legislative elections in our beloved country begin. From a position of historical and national responsibility, we emphasize the need for all political alliances and blocs to focus their rhetoric, conferences, and electoral campaigns on the unity of Iraq and the non-discrimination between its people. They must take into account the country's supreme national interest and reject all forms of defamation and slogans with sectarian and racist connotations. Political competition must be based on providing service to the proud Iraqi people."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani called on all Iraqis to choose the most qualified to represent them, as their vote is a trust that must be given to whoever is faithful to this trust and capable of preserving it.
