Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Mahmoud al-Mashhadani praised the existing cooperation between Iraqi state institutions and the United Nations. In a speech delivered on the occasion of the end of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) mission, the Speaker of Parliament expressed appreciation for the mission's role in supporting the electoral process, assisting the Independent High Electoral Commission, and monitoring and evaluating the elections, which enhanced their integrity and public confidence.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani affirmed that the conclusion of UNAMI's mission signifies a transition to a new phase of balanced partnership with the United Nations, which is based on respect for national sovereignty.
