Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani received a phone call from Numan Kurtulmus, the Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, who announced the release of the first additional water batches to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this development follows a recent meeting between Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which they agreed to increase water releases to 420 cubic meters per second. Al-Mashhadani expressed gratitude towards both the Turkish President and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly for their prompt response to his request.

Al-Mashhadani emphasized the importance of Turkey as a neighboring country to Iraq, highlighting the potential for enhanced cooperation and coordination of positions that benefit both nations. This gesture is seen as a step towards strengthening the bonds between the two countries and addressing mutual concerns over water resources.
