Al-Mashhadani Urges MPs to Ensure Attendance for Law Passage in Final Legislative Term

Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani has urged members of the legislative body to ensure their attendance in upcoming sessions to facilitate the passage of pending laws.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani emphasized the importance of cooperation among political blocs, their leaders, and both affiliated and independent members of parliament. He appealed to them to recognize their national and historical responsibilities during this critical period and to participate actively in the final legislative term's sessions. Such cooperation is essential to maintain a functioning parliamentary process and to pass laws that serve the interests of the people.

Al-Mashhadani further highlighted the necessity for parliamentarians to commit to attending sessions for the remainder of the current term. This commitment is crucial for the passage of significant pending legislation and for completing vital legal frameworks through readings and approvals, which are deemed essential for improving citizens' lives.

He also stressed that active participation in legislative discussions is a constitutional obligation and a commitment to the electorate. Regular attendance and diligent parliamentary efforts are indicative of the Council's dedication to its oversight and legislative responsibilities, thereby strengthening public confidence in the legislative institution.

Reiterating his call, the Speaker urged all involved to prioritize the nation's supreme interests, set aside differences, and strive for the success of the democratic process. This endeavor is vital to creating a stable political environment in anticipation of the upcoming legislative elections.
