Baghdad: The President of Al-Mustansiriya University, Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi, has asserted that definitive and rapid measures are being undertaken to increase the number of the university’s journals indexed in Scopus, alongside finalizing the establishment of a dedicated publishing house.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Issawi chaired the fifteenth session of the University Council for the 2025-2026 academic year, focusing on various scientific, administrative, and student affairs. The session reviewed strategies aimed at improving academic and research quality and expanding the university’s role in community service through scientific initiatives and development projects.

During the session, Al-Issawi highlighted the importance of taking confident and swift actions to boost the number of scientific journals published by the university and their inclusion in international databases, particularly Scopus. This effort is vital for enhancing the university’s scientific stature and reinforcing its position in international academic rankings, while also supporting the quality of scientific publishing and elevating the level of academic research.

In this context, Al-Issawi noted that the procedures for establishing a university-owned publishing house have been completed. This entity will oversee and publish the university’s scientific journals within a unified institutional framework, contributing to the organization of academic publishing and enhancing the level of scientific journals in line with internationally recognized standards in scientific research.
