Al-Mustansiriya University Celebrates Champion Mustafa Nasser Jabr’s Triple Gold Triumph in Qatar


Baghdad: Al-Mustansiriya University recently honored Mustafa Nasser Jabr, a student in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, following his remarkable success at the 2026 World University Weightlifting Championships in Qatar. Jabr achieved a historic feat by securing three gold medals, making him the world university champion in his category.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President of Al-Mustansiriya University, Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi, led the ceremony celebrating Jabr’s accomplishments. Al-Issawi expressed immense pride in Jabr’s achievements, emphasizing the significance for Iraq and Al-Mustansiriya University. He highlighted how such victories demonstrate the university’s commitment to fostering talent and nurturing champions. Competing against participants from approximately 20 countries, Jabr’s victory showcases the determination and strength of Iraqi students on an international stage.



The ceremony underscored Jabr’s dominance in his category, where he clinched gold in the snatch, the clean and jerk, and the overall total. His performance not only secured first place globally but also reinforced his status as the world university champion.



Al-Issawi reiterated the university’s dedication to supporting sports and empowering young athletes. He explained that the institution’s ability to produce world champions reflects its ongoing achievements and affirms the capability of Iraqi athletes to excel internationally.



In response, Mustafa Nasser Jabr expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Al-Mustansiriya University’s administration for their recognition and support.
