Baghdad: Sadrist Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr has urged the provision of comprehensive logistical support to Iraqi forces stationed on the Iraqi-Syrian border. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring that political disputes do not overshadow the nation’s security priorities or lead to inadequacies in addressing them.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr communicated his directives via a post on the X platform, following his review of reports concerning the border area with Syria. He proposed several key measures, including the delivery of logistical support to personnel, officers, and military vehicles, as well as a gradual bolstering of security and military presence. The focus is on supplying essential items such as food, water, clothing, medical supplies, and fuel.
Al-Sadr highlighted the need for heightened coordination among all security, military, and intelligence entities, specifically mentioning the Popular Mobilization Forces. He urged efforts to mitigate the threat from extremist and terrorist networks that pose risks along Iraq’s borders, advocating for increased presence of security and military leaders to enhance troop morale and resolve.
Additionally, he called for the deployment of religious and elite figures to offer moral and ethical guidance, aiming to fortify religious and national consciousness, reject sectarianism and extremism, and steer clear of political conflicts. Al-Sadr concluded by expressing hope that political rivalries would not lead to neglect of the security and logistical challenges or failure to address any shortcomings in these areas.
