Baghdad: The Iraqi Charg© d’Affaires in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced today that the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee meetings will be held in Baghdad on August 23 and 24, marking the end of a 25-year hiatus in such diplomatic engagements between the two nations. Al-Sahaf highlighted the significance of the meetings in fostering bilateral relations between Iraq and Libya.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Libyan delegation will be led by the Libyan Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour. The delegation will include representatives from various entities within the Government of National Unity in Tripoli. The meetings are expected to result in the signing of several memoranda of understanding across multiple sectors, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the countries.
Al-Sahaf noted that all necessary preparations have been completed to welcome the Libyan delegation. He emphasized that the head of the Libyan delegation is set to meet with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to discuss the current state and future prospects of relations between Baghdad and Tripoli. This initiative underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts and highlights the commitment of both nations to deepen their bilateral ties.
