Al-Samarrai Urges Unified Political Front to Safeguard Iraq’s Stability Amid Regional Tensions

Baghdad: In a call for unity amid escalating regional tensions, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, the head of Iraq's Azm Alliance, emphasized the necessity of consolidating political positions to preserve Iraq's stability. He highlighted the importance of overcoming internal political differences to address major national issues effectively. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Samarrai's statement underscored the detrimental impact of internal political disputes on addressing significant national concerns. He advocated for a unified decision-making process, backed by the Iraqi populace and their representatives, to navigate these challenges. Al-Samarrai also condemned the severe human rights violations faced by Palestinians and Lebanese people, urging swift international action to halt these crises. He pointed out Iraq's comparative stability in the region and stressed the importance of maintaining this stability to avoid plunging the nation into new conflicts. He further highlighted the critical role of polit ical consensus in state governance, noting that the Azm and Sovereignty Alliance and Progress are integral to the State Administration Coalition. This coalition has produced a political agreement paper addressing Sunni entitlements, underscoring the need for cohesive political actions. Al-Samarrai also called for legislative reforms to rectify past errors and align with public aspirations, stressing that the Azm Alliance will abstain from parliamentary participation unless the election of a Speaker of Parliament is on the agenda. He urged parliamentary blocs to prioritize this to foster stability and enact necessary laws. He concluded by asserting that decisions regarding peace and war should remain under governmental jurisdiction, emphasizing that the government must have sole responsibility in these matters.
