Baghdad: MP Othman al-Shibani of the State of Law Coalition has vowed to persist in addressing the corruption case concerning pharmaceuticals in Kirkuk Governorate, underscoring the significance of this issue due to its impact on the lives of Iraqis affected by contaminated medications.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Shibani declared in a press statement that the threats he received as of yesterday will not deter him from fulfilling his parliamentary responsibilities or revealing the truth. He insisted on seeing the case through to the end, irrespective of the obstacles ahead. Al-Shibani highlighted the main responsibility of the Council of Representatives to fight corruption, uphold citizens’ rights, and maintain the rule of law and justice, free from the influence of corruption networks and efforts to silence reform advocates through intimidation.

Furthermore, al-Shibani emphasized that those issuing threats or providing protection to smuggling and corruption networks will not succeed in concealing the truth or shielding those involved from legal consequences. He reiterated his call for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to thoroughly investigate this issue, ensuring that all those who planned, executed, financed, protected, or covered up the case are held accountable, without exception or favoritism.
