Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's readiness to provide various forms of support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The Prime Minister's media office stated that Al-Sudani met today with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, they discussed the Agency's efforts to carry out its duties and provide services, in light of the obstacles and direct targeting it faces by the occupying forces. They emphasized the importance of halting the ongoing aggression, expediting the entry of relief supplies to civilians in Gaza, and opening the crossings.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq's readiness to support UNRWA's efforts, as embodied in the initiatives put forward by Iraq during the Arab and Development Summits held yesterday in Baghdad, which included the establishment of a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza.
