Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s welcome and keenness to attract global companies, especially European ones, to participate in implementing developmental projects, amid the country’s political stability and investment-friendly legislation. During his meeting today, Wednesday, with the Swiss Ambassador Daniel Hohn and the Swedish Ambassador J¶rgen Lindstr¶m, according to a statement from his media office, Al-Sudani highlighted that Iraq is witnessing extensive reconstruction across various sectors, particularly the energy sector, which requires the introduction of advanced technologies for its development. He emphasized that Swiss and Swedish companies possess the expertise necessary to contribute to this effort.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two ambassadors expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for the meeting and affirmed their countries’ desire to enhance bilateral cooperation with Iraq, stressing that Swiss and Swedish energy companies are ready to operate in the Iraqi market.
The meeting was attended by the CEO of the Swedish company Linxon and the company’s Director for Asia and the Middle East, during which the company’s projects in Iraq since 2018 were reviewed, including maintenance works for electricity stations in Baghdad.
The Prime Minister directed the development of a roadmap to identify the most important projects that Swiss and Swedish energy companies could implement in the country.
