Al-Sudani and Coalition Commander Emphasize Support for Syria’s Security and Stability

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and General Kevin Leahy, the Commander of the International Coalition Forces to Fight ISIS in Iraq and Syria, have underscored the importance of supporting Syria's security and stability while respecting its sovereignty and refraining from interference in its internal affairs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister's Media Office released a statement detailing the meeting between Al-Sudani and General Leahy, which took place on Thursday. The discussion centered on a comprehensive review provided by General Leahy regarding the current security landscape and the activities of ISIS terrorist groups in the region.

The talks also highlighted the progression of cooperation between Iraq and the coalition member states. This cooperation is evolving into bilateral security relationships that focus on enhancing collaboration in training, as well as the exchange of expertise and intelligence with Iraqi security forces.

Furthermore, the meeting reaffirmed the significance of the strategic partnership between Iraq and the United States, especially in the face of ongoing challenges and the persistent battle against terrorism. Both leaders reiterated the necessity of bolstering Syria's security and stability, ensuring non-interference in its internal matters, and striving for peace and security across the region.
