Al-Sudani and Rashid Address Iraq’s Sovereignty and Challenges

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid to discuss the general situation in Iraq, focusing on the importance of protecting the country's sovereignty and supporting the government's efforts in addressing the challenges facing the region. They also addressed the need to confront violations affecting citizens' security and safety.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister's Office issued a statement highlighting the review of mechanisms for cooperation between the presidencies to enhance the work of government institutions. This cooperation aims to advance key sectors and improve the standard of living and services for citizens.

The meeting also covered administrative and financial issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. There was an emphasis on seeking solutions within the constitutional and legal frameworks to achieve social justice and sustainable development. The discussions underscored the importance of unified positions among national forces and parties, prioritizing Iraq's supreme interests.

In preparation for upcoming parliamentary elections, the meeting reinforced the necessity of holding elections as scheduled. It stressed the importance of not utilizing state resources for electoral purposes and preventing the misuse of government positions to influence voters. This approach is intended to bolster citizens' confidence in the democratic process, ensuring election integrity, and fostering active participation. The goal is for the election results to genuinely reflect the aspirations of the Iraqi people, thereby preserving the country's democratic process.
