Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has announced new initiatives aimed at resolving the persistent bottlenecks in the country’s electricity sector. Speaking during a recent cabinet session, Al-Sudani highlighted various achievements and ongoing efforts to improve the nation’s infrastructure and economy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani stated that Iraq has reached its highest electricity production levels, although there have been delays in the transmission and distribution projects critical to the electricity sector. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing structural reforms across the economic sector, which have already contributed to a reduction in the unemployment rate to 14.4 percent. Additionally, Iraq has seen a 6 percent increase in non-oil revenues, with electronic payment operations reaching unexpected levels, totaling over 7 trillion dinars.

Al-Sudani further mentioned that the country has achieved self-sufficiency in agricultural c
rops and has made significant progress in the Grand Faw Port project. The development road project is also continuing, marking substantial advancements in Iraq’s infrastructure initiatives.
