Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has announced the near completion of the first phase of Baghdad's traffic relief projects, marked by the completion of the Fourth Ring Road. A statement from his media office highlighted that Al-Sudani inaugurated the first phase of the Abu Nuwas Street expansion project this evening, Monday, as part of ongoing efforts to alleviate traffic congestion in the capital city.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani expressed gratitude for the dedication shown by workers and technical engineers from the Ministry of Construction and Housing, in addition to all supporting agencies and the consulting company involved. He emphasized the historical and commercial significance of the street, encouraging continued enthusiasm for the upcoming inauguration of the project's second phase. Despite the challenging conditions in the densely populated area along the Tigris River, the project was successfully executed following the designated specifications.

The Prime Minister outlined that this initiative is part of the "Baghdad More Beautiful" projects, aligned with the government's strategy to develop new intersections and enhance key thoroughfares. He reiterated the imminent completion of the first phase of the Baghdad congestion relief projects, culminating in the Fourth Ring Road, which is anticipated to significantly ease traffic congestion in the city.

The first phase of the project has seen the completion of a parallel street extending under the suspension bridge, covering a length of 2 km. The entire project route spans 8 km, linking Abu Nawas Street from Karrada Martyrs Park to the approaches of Nisour Square on the Karkh side.
