Sulaymaniyah: The investigative committee tasked with uncovering the circumstances of the attack on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah announced that the incident, which took place on November 26, was carried out using two drones, one directly struck the field while the other crashed outside its perimeter.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sabah Al-Numan, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, said in a statement that, under directives from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the committee began its work on November 28, headed by the Minister of Interior and comprising top security and intelligence officials from both the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.

He added that the committee presented its preliminary findings during a meeting chaired by the Commander-in-Chief, who approved the results. According to the investigation, the attack was the eleventh of its kind launched from areas south of the field, specifically from the eastern parts of Tuz Khurmatu district.

Al-Numan confirmed that the perpetrators have been identified as 'lawless elements,' with arrest warrants already issued for some of them, while security forces continue to track them down and collect the necessary evidence to ensure they are brought to justice.

The committee also issued several recommendations to strengthen the protection of the field, including redeployment of security forces in the East Salahuddin operations sector, replacing ineffective local security leadership, enhancing intelligence coordination between Baghdad and Erbil, providing air defense systems to secure the field, and imposing strict regulations on the use and transport of drones.

The statement emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing until all those involved in this 'dangerous terrorist act' targeting Iraq's sovereignty and economic resources are apprehended, noting that the government will take firm legal measures to hold the attackers accountable.
