Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani congratulated the new Baghdad governor, Atwan Sayed Hassan al-Atwani, on assuming his duties. The Prime Minister’s media office stated that Al-Sudani met in his office with the new Baghdad Governor and head of the provincial council, Ammar Farhan al-Hamdani.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, Al-Sudani congratulated the governor on assuming his duties, emphasizing the special nature of this position as he represents the capital and its extensions, and the comprehensive efforts it requires to develop it and enhance its services in all its forms.

He explained that local governments are the second executive arm of the state, pointing to the importance of ensuring that service and development plans and projects are consistent with the priorities and programs included in the government program, which focus on providing services and achieving reforms.
