Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has directed the referral of the Karbala-Najaf railway project to the National Investment Commission. This move aims to expedite the project's completion and address bureaucratic hurdles.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directive was issued during a meeting chaired by Al-Sudani. The meeting included the Minister of Transport, the Deputy Minister of Finance, and several other officials, focusing on the vital railway project. The initiative is designed to enhance transportation between the holy cities of Karbala and Najaf, improve railway efficiency, support private sector activities, and eventually establish connections to other shrines in Baghdad and Samarra.
The Prime Minister has also mandated that necessary amendments to the project be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval, signaling a commitment to moving the project forward effectively.
