Al-Sudani Emphasizes Aviation Sector Development in Meeting with UAE Delegation


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed the government’s keenness to develop the aviation and air transport sector. A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Al-Sudani received, on Sunday, the Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates, Saif Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, in the presence of the Chairman of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and Minister of Construction and Housing, Benkin Rikani.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing the aviation and air transport sector due to its significant role in fostering other sectors, such as tourism and economic development. He mentioned Iraq’s openness to cooperation with the UAE in aviation and stressed the importance of leveraging the progress achieved in this field to enhance Iraq’s capabilities amid the country’s ongoing comprehensive renaissance.



Saif Al Suwaidi highlighted Iraq’s strategic position as an air corridor connecting the East and the West, suggesting that the country is poised to become a hub for regional integration within the international aviation network. He expressed the UAE’s readiness to foster and intensify cooperation with Iraq in all civil aviation and air transport aspects.
