Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani highlighted the government’s commitment to dialogue as a fundamental strategy in addressing local, regional, and international challenges. Speaking at the opening of the seventh edition of the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, Al-Sudani emphasized the significance of dialogue, as endorsed by the constitution, in fostering freedom of opinion and expression. This approach, he stated, serves to unveil opportunities and insights that may not be immediately apparent to decision-makers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani elaborated in a statement from his media office that national dialogue remains a key avenue for addressing various issues, aligning with Iraq’s foreign policy of maintaining balance without aligning with any specific axis. The government is committed to efforts aimed at preventing conflict while upholding principled positions on major issues, particularly the Palestinian issue.

Al-Sudani acknowledged the challenges faced by his government in fulfilling its constitutional duties, both internally and externally. He stressed the importance of balancing these challenges with Iraq’s established regional and international stances. The government has adhered to a policy of balance and faced various challenges and proposals lacking foresight and responsibility.

In addressing events in Gaza, Al-Sudani described them as pivotal in the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights. He criticized the international community’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities, expressing this sentiment in dialogues with international entities, including the United Nations.

On domestic matters, Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s determination to pursue development and reconstruction initiatives, which he described as urgent and non-negotiable. Highlighting the ‘development path’ as a major strategic project, he underscored its potential as an economic stabilizer and a means to enhance Iraq’s integration and partnership with neighboring countries.

Al-Sudani further emphasized the importance of trade, cultural, and economic exchange with neighboring and friendly countries in building civilization and maximizing natural resource value. He reiterated the role of the ‘Development Path’ as a project for regional enhancement and a tool for fostering exchange among peoples, advocating for dialogue as a platform for mutual understanding and cooperation.
