Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani hosted a meeting with a delegation from the US Congress, focusing on the enhancement of bilateral ties between Iraq and the United States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani underscored the significance of strategic relations with the United States, highlighting how these ties benefit the citizens of both nations. He expressed the Iraqi government’s openness to initiatives aimed at fostering regional calm and reiterated Iraq’s support for dialogues and meetings intended to reduce tensions and promote security and stability.

Al-Sudani also emphasized Iraq’s ongoing progress toward comprehensive development and reform, particularly in fulfilling its obligations such as conducting legislative elections. He noted that these efforts reflect the Iraqi people’s commitment to the democratic process.

Members of the US Congress, including Michael Baumgartner from the Republican Party and Adam Smith, George Whitesides, Wesley Bell, and Sarah Jacobs from the Democratic Party, recognized Iraq as a pivotal partner in the Middle East. They commended the Iraqi government for its achievements in development, construction, and reconstruction.
