Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has expressed the Iraqi government’s keenness to bolster relations with the European Union, highlighting the EU’s role as a strategic partner for Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting with Thomas Seiler, the outgoing Head of the European Union Mission to Iraq, Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of enhancing these relations to fulfill common interests, create avenues for cooperation, and leverage European expertise. The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Seiler for his future diplomatic endeavors and commended his efforts in fostering Iraq-EU relations during his tenure.

Al-Sudani reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with the European Union, stressing the need for collaboration in various sectors to benefit both parties. In response, Seiler thanked the Prime Minister for his support and underscored the significance of further cooperation between Iraq and the EU in multiple fields.
