Erbil: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani engaged in discussions with Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani regarding the upcoming constitutional responsibilities, with a primary focus on the election of the President of the Republic. This step is seen as crucial for the completion of the government formation process, aligning with the results of the parliamentary elections.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani’s media office released a statement detailing the meeting, which took place in Erbil. Present at the discussion were members of the Coordination Framework delegation, including Secretary-General of the Badr Organization Hadi Al-Amiri, Head of Al-Asas Coalition Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and the Framework’s Secretary-General Abbas Radhi.
The statement highlighted that the meeting concentrated on the upcoming constitutional processes, particularly the election of the President of the Republic, as a means to progress with the finalization of the government formation in line with parliamentary election outcomes.
Additionally, the meeting touched upon current regional developments and the situation in Syria, emphasizing the importance of unifying Iraq’s national political discourse. This unity is seen as vital for enhancing Iraq’s stance and protecting its supreme national interests amidst these changes.
