Al-Sudani Exchanges Eid al-Fitr Greetings with Syrian President

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani exchanged greetings with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Tuesday on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. A statement from al-Sudani's media office stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani exchanged greetings with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr during a joint phone call."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the call, al-Sudani expressed his "wishes and congratulations to the Syrian people on the occasion of the formation of the new government," stressing "Iraq's firm position in standing by the choices of the brotherly Syrian people and the importance of the political process including all its components, and contributing to the path of peaceful coexistence and community security, for a secure and stable future for Syria and the entire region."

In the call, the Prime Minister affirmed "Iraq's rejection of the Zionist entity's incursion into Syrian territory, its support for the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of Syria, and its rejection of foreign interference. He also emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in confronting the threat of ISIS terrorist gangs, in addition to cooperation in economic fields, given common factors and opportunities.
