Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the critical importance of road, bridge, and infrastructure projects across Baghdad and other governorates, shedding light on the substantial efforts and resources allocated to these developments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office detailed that al-Sudani inaugurated the implementation of the concrete oil bridge project and its approaches in Amara. This initiative is part of a larger endeavor comprising seven service projects throughout the Maysan Governorate, with an overall budget of 112 billion dinars.

The projects include the rehabilitation of several key roads and bridges, such as the Al-Shaib crossing road, the road connecting the engineering bridge and the Tabar Bridge, the Al-Salam-Al-Islah road, and the construction of bridges in Qalaat Saleh, Abdullah bin Ali, and Ali Al-Zaki in the Al-Kahla District/Al-Mashrah Subdistrict.

Al-Sudani underscored the vital role of road projects, particularly those linking governorates, districts, and sub-districts. He noted that the infrastructure initiatives in the governorates demand significant effort, resources, and continuous oversight. The Prime Minister highlighted that nearly every sub-district, district, or small town has active projects in water, sanitation, road paving, and electricity networks.

In recent years, Iraq has experienced a substantial transformation in its transportation infrastructure. Nearly 1,000 kilometers of new roads have been integrated into the external road network, complemented by the maintenance, rehabilitation, and expansion of an additional 1,300 kilometers of external roads.
