Al-Sudani Highlights Crucial Role of Tribal Leaders in Encouraging Election Participation


Maysan: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the significance of elections and the pivotal role of tribal sheikhs, dignitaries, and elites in encouraging widespread participation. He underscored the importance of not underestimating the right to vote and make choices.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from his media office revealed that Prime Minister al-Sudani met with tribal sheikhs, dignitaries, and academic and cultural elites at the guest house of Sheikh Mohammed Abbas al-Aribi in Maysan Governorate. Al-Sudani expressed his pride in meeting the tribal leaders and dignitaries of Maysan, maintaining strong relationships with its tribes and people. He acknowledged the historical significance of Iraqi tribes and their impactful roles in the nation’s history.



Al-Sudani expressed gratitude to the tribal sheikhs for their support of state institutions and assistance to security services in enforcing the rule of law and rejecting disruptive behavior. He reiterated that Maysan Governorate, having made numerous sacrifices, deserves comprehensive support from both federal and local governments.



The Prime Minister elaborated on efforts to enhance infrastructure and services in Maysan, recognizing its potential for economic growth. He detailed plans to develop the oil sector, including projects to boost oil production and refining capacity, with the Maysan Refinery’s inauguration imminent. Additionally, petrochemical and oil plants are planned, aiming to transform the governorate into a significant oil industrial hub, ultimately providing job opportunities and advancing development.



Al-Sudani also addressed water scarcity issues affecting farmers, highlighting strategic plans to tackle the problem while stressing the importance of rationalizing consumption. He noted that elections are a pivotal milestone in state-building, supporting the political process and ensuring a peaceful transfer of power. The Prime Minister emphasized that citizens, through their votes, dictate the nation’s future for the next four years.



He assured continued efforts in all districts and sub-districts to provide services and complete development projects. Al-Sudani highlighted the influx of international companies investing in Iraq, with over $100 billion in Arab and foreign investments. He stressed that Iraq’s and Iraqis’ interests remain a priority, underscoring the significance of ongoing construction, reconstruction, and community service despite challenges.
