Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has emphasized the government's focus on human rights within its executive program, underscoring efforts to uphold freedom of expression and foster a conducive environment for civil society organizations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting with Mustafa Saadoun, head of the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights, Al-Sudani reiterated the administration's openness to collaborate with national institutions like the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights. He also expressed the government's willingness to invite back activists and journalists who have left Iraq in recent years, assuring them of support and facilities needed to perform their roles freely and responsibly under the framework of the law and the constitution.

The meeting also covered discussions on the current state of human rights in Iraq and the government's initiatives to bolster this critical area. These efforts aim to enhance a secure environment for activists, journalists, and rights defenders, aligning with the Iraqi constitution and the country's international human rights obligations.
