Al-Sudani Highlights Importance of Drug Security, Inaugurates Pharmaceutical Factories in Baghdad.

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the crucial role of drug security, equating its significance with that of food, military, and cyber security. This statement was made during the inauguration of the Mansour and Al-Mustaqbal factories for medicine and medical solutions in Baghdad, conducted via a television circuit.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani, in his speech, highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering local industries under the “Made in Iraq” initiative. He noted that the increase in pharmaceutical production has led to governmental support, including banking assistance and sovereign guarantees, to ensure the success of these projects. The registration process for pharmaceutical companies is progressing smoothly, with comprehensive guidelines established to facilitate technology transfer to national factories and partnerships with specialized foreign companies and the private sector.

Al-Sudani also stressed the national importance of the “Made in Iraq
” initiative, aiming to meet the country’s needs for chronic disease treatments by mid-next year, along with cancer treatments, in collaboration with the private sector. The Mansour factory, revitalized by the government’s localization policies, features production lines for therapeutic syrups, pills, cancer treatment drugs, intravenous solutions, and eye drops.

In contrast, the Al-Mustaqbal factory is set to produce over 300 pharmaceutical forms, including intravenous solutions, life-saving drugs, ampoules, eye drops, and anti-cancer drugs. The factory’s production capacity includes 18 million bottles of intravenous solutions, 110 million ampoules, and 15 million packages of eye drops annually. The facility will also focus on manufacturing more than 60 types of drugs and antibiotics, with plans to transfer technology for the production of over 12 types of anti-cancer drugs.
