Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of bilateral relations with the United States during a meeting with US Senators Angus King and James Lankford and their accompanying delegation. The meeting, which took place on Saturday, focused on strengthening ties in various sectors, particularly economy, energy, investment, and culture, in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani highlighted the clear stability in Iraq, which has positively impacted the economic and development landscape. He noted that the Iraqi government has taken decisive steps in the oil and gas sector, achieving significant accomplishments that are expected to enhance cooperation and investment opportunities with American companies.
The US delegation congratulated Prime Minister al-Sudani on Iraq's successful hosting of the Arab and Development Summits and acknowledged the country's growing role in contributing to regional stability. They also expressed admiration for the progress seen in construction, reconstruction, and development within Iraq, and reaffirmed their desire to enhance cooperation across multiple fields between the two nations.
