Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed the government’s openness to cooperation with all companies possessing the technology, expertise, and competence to implement important projects. His media office stated that Al-Sudani met with the Executive Vice President of Shell Oil Company, Richard Howe, to discuss potential collaborations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, they explored aspects of cooperation in the field of developing the energy sector and investment opportunities that could contribute to mutual interests. Al-Sudani highlighted the government’s commitment to utilizing all capabilities and efforts to implement major projects, especially those focused on gas investment and achieving self-sufficiency in production.

Al-Sudani further noted that Shell’s proposals for developing and reforming the oil sector align with the government’s vision and plans. He reiterated the government’s openness to cooperate with companies that have the necessary technology, experience, and competence to advance the energy sector and modernize its infrastructure.

Richard Howe, Shell’s Deputy CEO, expressed that Iraq presents a ripe investment environment. He highlighted Shell’s eagerness to develop gas investment in Basra and projects aimed at exploring blocks in Dhi Qar and the western region to enhance and increase energy production levels in Iraq.
